Indie Genie Labs ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Gratitude Genie mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.
By using Gratitude Genie, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

- Account information — email address and display name when you create an account
- Journal entries — your conversations with Gratina, our AI companion. These are encrypted before being stored and are only accessible to your account
- Mood data — mood ratings and notes you log through the mood tracker
- Usage data — journaling streaks, gratitude depth level, and feature interactions to personalize your experience
- Device information — device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and compatibility
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Power your conversations with Gratina and generate personalized responses
- Generate AI-powered monthly memory cards and weekly insight reports
- Track your mood, gratitude depth, and resilience score over time
- Process and manage your premium subscription
- Send daily journaling reminders and notifications (with your permission)
- Improve the App and fix technical issues
AI-Powered Features
Gratitude Genie uses artificial intelligence to power conversations with Gratina and to generate monthly memories, weekly insights, and other personalized content. Your journal conversations are processed by our AI service provider (OpenAI) to generate responses. While we take every precaution to ensure quality, AI-generated content may occasionally be imperfect or unexpected. AI responses are provided for personal reflection and journaling purposes only and should not be considered professional advice of any kind.
Data Encryption
Your journal entries are encrypted before being stored in our database. Access to your entries is restricted to your authenticated account. Your data is processed by our AI service to generate responses and insights, but is not shared with third parties beyond the service providers listed below.
Third-Party Services
Gratitude Genie uses the following third-party services that may collect information as described in their own privacy policies:
- OpenAI — powers AI conversation and content generation
- Convex — backend database and server functions
- RevenueCat — subscription and purchase management
- Google Play Services — app distribution and core services on Android
- Expo — push notifications and app updates
- PostHog — product analytics and usage insights
- Sentry — error and crash reporting
Subscriptions & Payments
Gratitude Genie offers an optional premium subscription. All payments are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not collect or store your payment card details. Subscription management and billing are handled by RevenueCat and the respective app stores.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Convex, our cloud backend provider. We use industry-standard security measures including encryption for journal entries, secure authentication, and encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS). While no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, we take every commercially reasonable step to protect your personal information.
Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the email address below. Upon receiving a deletion request, we will permanently remove your data within 30 days.
Children's Privacy
Gratitude Genie is not directed at anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Cookies
The App itself does not use cookies. However, third-party services integrated into the App may use cookies or similar technologies as described in their respective privacy policies.
Links to Other Sites
The App may contain links to external websites or services (such as our self-help library content). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any external sites you visit.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you

- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict processing of your data

Advertising & Data Selling
Gratitude Genie is completely ad-free. We do not display advertisements and we do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
